If you're on the hunt for a classic American breakfast that hits all the right notes, House of Breakfast should be at the top of your list. Nestled at 3728 W Olympic Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90019, this charming diner exudes an old-school vibe that's as inviting as the delicious food it serves. With a reputation that stretches back to the seventies—thanks to loyal patrons who recall childhood visits with fondness—this eatery remains a beloved staple for locals and visitors alike.

Step inside and you'll find yourselves surrounded by the comforting aroma of freshly cooked meals and the friendly banter of staff who feel like family. The atmosphere is relaxed and no-frills, allowing you to focus on what truly matters—the food. Whether you choose to sit at the counter and watch the talented chef work his magic or enjoy a cozy booth, the ambiance here is warm and welcoming.

When it comes to the menu, you'll be spoiled for choice. The Old Fashioned Buttermilk Pancakes (US$11.99) steal the show, boasting a fluffy, melt-in-your-mouth texture that captures the essence of breakfast bliss. Patrons rave about the French Toast (US$8.99) that is equally divine, striking the perfect balance between sweet and savory. For those looking for a heartier option, the Bacon & Egg Sandwich (US$11.99) combines the comforting flavors of classic breakfast with a satisfying crunch. And don’t overlook the hashbrowns, a beloved favorite frequently mentioned in reviews—they're perfectly crispy and make a delightful sidekick to any dish.

While the menu offers a plethora of hearty sandwiches and beverages, like fresh orange juice and robust coffee, the highlight remains undeniably the pancakes, which many believe require nothing more than a dab of butter to fully enjoy their rich, buttery flavor. As one satisfied customer noted, "pancakes are soooo good doesn't require syrup!" That says it all!

House of Breakfast is more than just a restaurant; it's an experience. Reviews from customers reflect not just their satisfaction with the quality of the meals, but also the nostalgic, laid-back atmosphere that invites storytelling and connection. A local, Deric Lynch, reminisces about being brought here by his father, describing it as "the best pancakes in town!" This deep-rooted affection for the place runs through many guests' recollections, highlighting the timeless appeal of this diner.

So, whether you're a local looking for your new favorite breakfast spot or a traveler seeking an authentic taste of American diner culture, House of Breakfast is a must-visit. Just remember—this gem operates on a cash-only basis, so come prepared to enjoy some of the finest breakfast fare Los Angeles has to offer.

This place is a super chill little spot! It's awesome! super old school! The lady that took our order was super chill and getting it all done! You're able to see the bad @ss chef doing his thing, knocking out all the orders coming in! It takes you back to the old days for a bit. Really cool spot. Food is straight forward. What you read in the menu is what you'll get NO SUBSTITUTIONS! Lol so don't go messing things up! Oh yeah and it's CASH ONLY! so take some cash and singles! and make sure to tip! Oh yeah! and there's only like 6 parking spots and like 3 in the back but plenty of street parking! Enjoy!

A great place to have classic American breakfast. The hashbrowns are the best and their pancake flavor is hard to beat. It’s always busy and all you need to do is wait your turn outside and the lady in charge will give you a table once there’s free room.

Unique food and great taste! Apart from the food they have a "take it or leave it" approach, so set your expectations properly.

Intimate diner with the sights, smells and tastes in your face. Sit at the counter. Yummy pancakes. Eggs and stir fried rice is a must. The cook at the grill is a maestro!

Best place for pancakes made from scratch plus delicious lunches. Since I lived alone I went there several times a week. Linda was always cheerful and helpful with everyone's orders. Delicious and reasonable.
